Importance of fertiliser

Fertiliser

To get the most out of your plants, it is important to make sure your soil is in good condition. Otherwise, your efforts may be fruitless (pun intended).  Rocky Point Mulching, fertiliser gurus say, “Good soil is the foundation of a great garden. So, it is vital to improve the soil prior to planting.” The team at Gleam O’Dawn couldn’t agree more! We often tell our customers ‘soil is key’, so if you can get that right then you’re on your way to a successful garden. An easy way to ensure your soil is in good condition is by using a fertiliser or soil improver.

Gleam O’Dawn stocks a wide variety of popular potting mixes to ensure we have something for every gardener and garden. Our range includes organic, processed and organic fertilisers, herbicides, insecticides and garden mulches. However, we do have our favourite all-round products, especially for certain types of gardens. Our spring product spotlight currently features Rocky Point Mulching’s Active 8.

What is Active 8?

Active 8 fertiliser

Active 8 is a soil improver and planting mix. The product is designed so you can plant straight into it without needing anything additional. It is ideal for planter boxes, pots, large containers, herb gardens and raised garden beds. Active 8 is also a slow

release organic fertiliser, which contains a rich earthy blend of composted chicken manure, composted cow manure, blood and bone, gypsum, fish meal, seaweed extract, iron, zeolite, trace elements and humates. With Active 8, you know your plants will be getting all the good nutrients they need.

Why is Active 8 needed?

A large part of spring gardening in Australia, especially in our local Samford Valley community, is planting and establishing fruit and veggie gardens. A minor obstacle with fruit and veggie gardens is that most are (rightfully) established in raised garden beds, planters and large containers, which means that regular dirt cannot be used. For a great explanation of the impact regular backyard soil can have on your veggie patch you can check out this article. To get around this slight obstacle, you need to use a soil improver or planter mix for your veggie patches, which is the role Active 8 fulfils.

  • Can be used on all garden types, however, is specifically designed for preparing vegetable gardens.
